What is a Cinemagraph?

Often when I mention cinemagraphs in conversation, I will get pulled up - "Cinemagraph?! What's that?"

Cinemagraphs are still photographs in which a minor and repeated movement occurs. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinemagraph

A cinemagraph is very much a combination of a still picture and an animated GIF.

Cinemagraphs have an immobile frame of reference, just like a still picture, but they also have animated sections, like an animated GIF.

A simple phrase I like to explain cinemagraphs: "Moving photos"
